Holy Name wrestler Jimmy Klosz will be in familiar territory when he walks onto the mat at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus this weekend.

It’s not like the 145-pound senior wrestler has never been there before. Last year, he finished in third place in Division II finals in Columbus.

Last week, Klosz finished second at the Division II districts at Marion Harding, earning him another berth to the state finals.

Klosz won the first three of his matches at the district meet, earning him a spot in the title bout at 145 pounds. However, he lost his final match of the tourney, losing a 6-5 decision to Blake Kastl of Graham Local.

Going into state competition this weekend, Klosz has a season record of 39 wins and four losses. He said his four year record of competition at Holy Name shows him so far with a career record of 154 wins and 23 losses.

Klosz also won an individual championship in the North Coast League each of his four years at Holy Name.
In a recent interview, Klosz said that during the 2011-2012 season, one of the moves he has tried to improve is the single leg takedown.

“In working with my coaches, one of the things they noticed was I was hesitant to use it,” he said. “So, I’ve been working with them to minimize my hesitancy.”
