HN's Alan Burke named National Merit Semi-Finalist

Holy Name Senior Alan Burke named National Merit Semi-Finalist in National Merit Scholarship Competition

Alan BurkeLast October, about 1.5 million juniors took the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which served as an initial screen of program entrants.  The nationwide pool of Semi-Finalists (16,000 total), which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.

We congratulate Alan for his exceptional academic achievements and wish him luck as he competes to become a National Merit Finalist and scholarship winner.

Alan and his parents Sheila & Shane Burke are from Seven Hills, Ohio.  His two sisters are also HN graduates and now attend Baldwin Wallace &  Syracuse University respectively.

Alan received a 34 on his ACT and a perfect 800 on the SAT II Chemistry exam.  Alan participates in cross country, lacrosse, ski club and student senate.  He is very interested in science and chemistry for his education and future career.
